The assembly jobs we do most and how we handle them
PAX wardrobes and walk-ins. The piece that generates the most calls: two or three metres of wardrobe, 236 cm sliding doors and a floor that is never quite level. We build the frame lying down, stand it up between two of us, pack the feet, align the sliding doors with the top track and anchor the whole thing to the wall, which with a PAX is not optional. A two-door PAX costs €70-110; if the sliding doors stop closing properly after a while, there is a guide to fixing sliding wardrobe doors.
METOD flat-pack kitchens. Our kitchen fitters do more than screw cabinets together: they fix the suspension rails at the right level, adjust hinges and drawer runners, cut the laminate worktop to size with the openings for the sink and hob, and fit plinths and end panels. A METOD kitchen of 6-8 units costs €350-600 to assemble. Our plumber connects the sink and dishwasher in the same visit; the electrical supply for the oven and hob must already exist, because we do not do new electrical installations.
Beds, ottoman beds and bunks. An ottoman bed has gas struts that have to be fitted in the right order or the base will not lift. Bunks and high beds from MALM, STUVA or Conforama are anchored to the wall for safety. Assembling an ottoman bed costs €60-90, and if it is coming from a house move, we dismantle it and rebuild it at the new address.
KALLAX and BILLY shelving and BESTÅ living room units. They go together quickly (€35-60 per unit), but what matters is the anchoring: a 4x4 KALLAX full of books weighs over 150 kg and tips over if a child climbs it. On the plasterboard walls of renovated flats in Ruzafa or El Carmen we use toggle or metal expansion anchors; in hollow brick, long nylon plugs. We explain the types in the guide to anchoring furniture to the wall.
How we work
The same for one item as for a whole house.
- 1. Photo on WhatsApp. Send us a photo of the boxes with the label (IKEA prints the name and article number) or the product link, and tell us the town and the floor. For several items, a list is enough. From that we work out the hours and tell you whether one person or two will come.
- 2. Fixed price or by the hour. For standard items we give a fixed price per unit; for large batches or furniture from a move, €30-40 an hour with a one-hour minimum. If you accept, there is no call-out fee; if you cancel with the fitter at the door, it is €25 in Valencia or Alicante city or €35 elsewhere.
- 3. Assembly the same day or within 24 hours. We arrive with our own tools (driver, level, drill, plugs for every wall type), build, level, anchor and take the cardboard away if you like. You pay on completion in cash, by card, Bizum or bank transfer, with an invoice including IVA (VAT) and a 6-month written guarantee on the assembly.
What affects the price of furniture assembly
The first factor is the real assembly time, which has little to do with size: a big KALLAX goes together in 40 minutes, a BESTÅ with doors, drawers and legs takes twice as long, and a kitchen takes two days. That is why we give a fixed price for familiar pieces and charge by the hour for the rest, €30-40 with the first hour as the minimum.
The second is the wall and the anchoring. Fixing into solid brick is quick; on plasterboard we have to find the studs or use specific anchors, and on tiles we drill with a carbide bit and care. The third is access: a walk-in wardrobe in a top-floor flat with no lift in El Cabanyal takes longer than a ground floor. The fourth is whether the piece arrives dismantled from a move with no instructions and incomplete fixings: we sort it out, but it takes longer.
To compare with what the market charges, see the furniture assembly prices page with examples per item and per hour, including fitters who work through platforms and IKEA's official service.
When the assembly gets complicated
The most common hitch is a missing or damaged part. If a PAX box is short a panel or a runner arrives bent, we do not force it: we build everything else, tell you exactly which part to order from IKEA (with the spare part number) and come back to finish without charging a second call-out within Valencia or Alicante city. The same with furniture from Amazon or Maisons du Monde that turns up with incomplete fixings: we carry our own stock of screws, cam locks and dowels.
The second is the wall that will not hold: thin plasterboard, 1970s hollow brick that crumbles, or a wall with a pipe or cable exactly where the anchor needs to go. We use a detector before drilling and, if there is no safe way to anchor, we find another wall or a solution with a reinforcing rail. We do not leave a tall wardrobe unanchored even if you ask us to, because the manufacturer's warranty and ours depend on it.
The third is the piece that does not fit: a 236 cm wardrobe in a flat with a 235 cm ceiling, or a sofa that will not go up the stairs. If you send us the photo of the box and the ceiling height, we check before coming. And when the job stops being assembly and becomes carpentry (cutting a unit down, making a shelf to size, adjusting a wooden door), our carpenter does it in the same visit.
Where we assemble furniture
A furniture fitter sets out from Valencia or Alicante depending on the area, and between the two bases we cover the whole coast. In Valencia, close to the IKEA at Alfafar, we mostly build for rental flats in Ruzafa, Benimaclet and Algirós and for families renovating in Patraix and Campanar; a good share of the calls come in as handyman by the hour in Valencia with a list of small assembly jobs.
In Alicante we work from the IKEA at Rabasa out to San Juan, Albufereta and San Vicente del Raspeig, with many student flats being furnished in September. In Torrevieja and Orihuela Costa we build garden and terrace furniture and furnish holiday lets before the season; in Benidorm and Elche, for holiday-let managers and families.
Furniture assembly also reaches Mislata, Torrent, Paterna, Mutxamel, El Campello, Santa Pola, Guardamar, Villajoyosa, Altea, Calpe and Dénia. For towns more than 30 km from the base we charge a call-out, and we include it in the price we give you.

Guides and tips
Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to assemble a PAX wardrobe?
A two-door PAX costs €70-110 built, levelled and anchored to the wall. A 3-metre PAX with sliding doors and interior fittings (drawers, rails, shelves) usually comes to €150-250 because it takes 4 to 6 hours. We give you the exact price from the photo of the boxes or the article link.
Can you come the same day my IKEA order arrives?
In Valencia and Alicante city, often yes: let us know as soon as you have the delivery date and we reserve the slot. For kitchens and large batches we plan 2-4 days ahead. If the courier is late, we change the time at no charge as long as you tell us before the fitter sets off.
Do you assemble furniture that is not from IKEA?
Yes. We build furniture from Leroy Merlin, Conforama, Bricodepot, Maisons du Monde, Amazon, Kave Home and pieces from a house move with no instructions. If there is no manual, we work it out from experience; for moves, we dismantle at the old address, number the parts and rebuild at the new one.
Do you charge by the hour or per item?
Both, whichever suits you. For familiar pieces (PAX, METOD, ottoman bed, KALLAX, BILLY) we give a fixed price per unit. For mixed batches or furniture from a move we charge €30-40 an hour with a one-hour minimum. Either way you know the price before the fitter arrives.
What happens if a part is missing from the box?
We build everything we can, tell you which part is missing with its spare part number so you can order it from IKEA (spares are free in store) and come back to finish. Within Valencia or Alicante city the second visit carries no call-out; elsewhere in our area we charge only the €35 call-out.
Do furniture pieces have to be anchored to the wall?
For wardrobes, tall shelving, chests of drawers and bunk beds, yes: the manufacturer requires it and it is the only way to prevent a tip-over. We carry plugs for brick, plasterboard and concrete. If you rent and worry about holes, we use the minimum needed and they fill with a dab of filler in two minutes when you move out.
