What we hang most, and how we do it properly
The television is job number one. In renovated flats in Ruzafa, El Carmen or Playa de San Juan the living room wall is almost always plasterboard, and a 65-inch bracket on the plastic plugs that come in the box ends up on the floor. We find the metal studs with a detector, use metal plasterboard anchors such as Molly or Fischer Duotec and, if the bracket is articulated and the TV weighs over 25 kg, fix into the studs or fit a load-spreading plate. In the hollow brick of 60s to 80s blocks we use long nylon plugs or chemical anchor. If you want to do it yourself, read the guide to mounting a TV on plasterboard before buying the bracket.
Heavy mirrors are the second call: full-length IKEA mirrors of 20-30 kg, framed bathroom mirrors and antique mirrors in the village houses of Altea or Villajoyosa. They go up on two laser-levelled points with fixings matched to the weight, never on a single hook or adhesive strips. Picture walls are laid out with a paper template so no holes have to be redone, and in rented flats we use no-drill systems where the weight allows.
Ceiling lights are the third. We swap one fitting for another, with the power off, connecting the same cores to the new lampholder and fixing to the ceiling with plugs suited to plaster, concrete or plasterboard. We do not do new installations, do not chase walls and do not touch the consumer unit: that is work for a licensed electrician with a boletín (certificate), and we refer you to one.
And then curtain poles, blind rails, shelves, towel rails and coat hooks. These are 20-40 minute jobs with a catch: curtain poles above windows with a persiana (roller shutter) box cannot take long plugs and have to be fixed to the ceiling or the sides; load-bearing shelves need brackets, not the glue strips suggested on the box.
How we work
- Photo on WhatsApp of the wall and the item. With the photo, the approximate weight and the wall type (if you know it) we give you a fixed price and a time. If you do not know what the wall is made of, no matter: we tap it on arrival and pick the fixing.
- Visit the same day or within 24 hours. We arrive with a stud and cable detector, laser level, plugs for plasterboard, hollow brick and concrete, and a vacuum for the drilling dust. In Valencia and Alicante we are with you in 20-45 minutes for single jobs; for a whole house we book a block of 2-4 hours.
- Payment on completion and a written guarantee. Cash, card, Bizum or bank transfer with an invoice including IVA (VAT). Six months' guarantee on the fixing: if anything we hung moves or comes down, we come back at no charge.
What changes the price of mounting a TV or a mirror
- Weight and size: a 43-inch TV on a fixed bracket goes up in half an hour; a 75-inch on an articulated bracket needs two people and load-rated anchors.
- Wall type: solid brick and concrete are quick; plasterboard and double-skin hollow brick need special anchors and more time to find the studs.
- Hiding cables: running the HDMI and power through paintable trunking adds €15-25; running them inside the plasterboard between two back boxes adds €40-60, and we only do that with the existing installation.
- Bracket: if you supply it, we check it is compatible with the TV's VESA pattern before coming; if we buy it, we charge it at shop price.
- Number of items: from five pictures, shelves or accessories in the same visit, the price per item comes down.
- Height: ceilings above 3 m in village houses, or a light over a stairwell, need a large stepladder or a small tower.
- Special items: frameless mirrors with mirror fixings, pictures over 1.5 m, ceiling bike mounts, indoor pergolas.
When what is behind the wall decides
The real risk of hanging something on a wall is not that it falls, it is what is inside the wall. In bathrooms and kitchens there are water pipes and cables without the marking the regulations require, especially in older renovations. Before drilling we run a metal and voltage detector and, in risk zones (next to a socket, above a tap, on the wall with the consumer unit), we move the point a few centimetres even if the customer wants the picture exactly there. Drilling through a pipe in plasterboard is a €200-400 repair with our plumber and a builder; not worth the gamble for two centimetres.
The other common situation is the wall that will not hold: plasterboard partitions with no stud where a 30 kg TV bracket needs to go, or hollow brick that crumbles when drilled. Then we suggest a wooden or metal load-spreading plate fixed at several points, or a floor stand if it is impossible. We would rather say so than hang something that will end up on the floor. We fill and sand the holes from the old position; if there are many, it becomes a filling holes in a wall job and we quote it separately.
Where we mount TVs, pictures and lights
Most calls are in Valencia and its metropolitan area, in newly renovated and rented flats, and in Alicante, where the apartments of Playa de San Juan and Albufereta are joined by the houses of Vistahermosa and Cabo de las Huertas. We also cover San Vicente del Raspeig, Mutxamel and El Campello from Alicante, and Mislata, Burjassot, Paterna and Torrent from Valencia.
On the Costa Blanca we work for owners and holiday-let managers in Benidorm, Torrevieja and Orihuela Costa: a TV in every bedroom of a holiday apartment, mirrors and pictures after a refurbishment, curtains on every window in a single morning. In Elche, Santa Pola, Calpe, Altea, Jávea and Dénia we arrive in 30-60 minutes. If you have a long list of small things, our handyman by the hour service works out better, and it covers hanging whatever is needed and assembling furniture in the same visit.

Guides and tips
Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to mount a TV on the wall?
Between €50 and €70 for a TV up to 55 inches on a fixed bracket, and between €80 and €120 for a 65 to 85 inch set or an articulated bracket. The price includes fixings suited to the wall, levelling and clean-up. The bracket is not included; if you like, we buy it at shop price.
Can a TV be mounted on a plasterboard wall?
Yes, with metal plasterboard anchors for TVs up to 25-30 kg on a fixed bracket, and fixing into the metal studs or a load-spreading plate for articulated brackets and big screens. What does not hold is the plastic plugs in the box. We locate the studs with a detector before drilling.
Can you hide the TV cables?
Yes. The quick option is paintable trunking glued or screwed from the TV down to the socket (€15-25). On plasterboard we can run the cables inside the wall between two flush boxes (€40-60) as long as the socket and aerial point already exist, because we do not do new electrical installations.
Do you do electrical work to hang a light?
We replace one light fitting with another at an existing lighting point, with the power off and new connector blocks. We do not add new lighting points, chase walls or touch the consumer unit, because that requires a licensed electrician with a certificate. If you need that, we put you in touch with an electrician we trust.
What do you charge for hanging pictures in a rented flat without making holes?
The same as with a drill: €45-70 for five pictures or mirrors. We use heavy-duty adhesive strips and nail-free hooks for light pieces, and for mirrors or pictures over 5 kg we explain that there is no reliable no-hole system and fit a small plug that fills in a minute when you leave.
What if a tile cracks or the wall chips when you drill?
We drill tiles with a tungsten carbide or diamond bit, without hammer action and with masking tape, so it is very rare. If it happens through our fault, we repair it at no charge with our builder. If the tile was already hollow or cracked (we check by tapping first), we warn you and you decide whether we carry on.
