Roller shutter repair prices by town
The shutter strap is the most common repair across the whole area and its price barely changes. In central Valencia we add 10-15 % for parking and blocks without a lift; in Alicante the standard rate; in Torrevieja and Benidorm up to 10 % more in outlying urbanisations and tower blocks. What changes the price of the repair
- Type of box. A PVC box with a front cover opens in a minute. The built-in boxes of 1960s-80s blocks with a nailed or painted-over wooden cover, or compact aluminium shutter boxes with the cover screwed on from outside, take longer.
- What is actually broken. A shutter that will not go up may just be the strap (€35-60), but if on opening the box we find a split pulley or a bent axle, the price changes. We check and tell you before touching anything.
- Slat material. Standard white or beige PVC slats we carry in the van. Aluminium slats with polyurethane filling, coloured slats or unusual sizes are ordered in and add €10-20 and a day or two.
- Size and weight. A 2.5 m aluminium balcony shutter weighs twice as much as a window one and needs two people to lift it out of the box, plus bearing pulleys.
- Motor. Motorising a light shutter with a 10 Nm motor and a wall switch is at the bottom of the range; a heavy one with a 30-50 Nm motor, remote control and receiver is at the top. There must already be a power point nearby; we do not do new electrical installation.
- Number of shutters. From the second shutter in the same visit, the labour on each comes down 20-30 %, which is why we recommend checking all the shutters in the home at once.
- Salt corrosion. On the seafront, aluminium guides and hangers corrode; sometimes the guides have to be cleaned and greased or the hangers on every slat replaced, which adds half an hour.
What the price includes and what it does not
Included: travel within the town if you accept the quote, opening and closing the box, the standard part (strap, cord, winder, pulley, hangers, white or beige PVC slats, axle caps), adjustment and testing of the whole shutter, cleaning of the box and the floor, an invoice with IVA and a 6-month written guarantee on the repair.
Not included: complete new shutters (we give you the manufacturer's price), coloured aluminium slats or special sizes, more powerful motors or home-automation ones, repair of a built-in box if it is broken (our small building works team can do it in the same visit if you like), painting the box cover, and wooden Majorcan or Alicante-style louvred shutters, which are quoted separately. If after seeing the shutter you decide not to repair it, we charge the call-out only: €25 in Valencia and Alicante city, €35 elsewhere.
Three real repairs with the total
- Broken strap in a block in Benimaclet, Valencia. PVC bedroom shutter with a built-in box and wooden cover. We opened the box, replaced the 22 mm strap and the surface-mounted winder, whose spring had gone. Total: €50 including IVA, 40 minutes.
- Dropped shutter with two broken slats in a bungalow in Torrevieja (Los Balcones). The tenant pulled it up while it was jammed and the slats came out of the guide. We refitted the shutter, replaced two PVC slats and the hangers on the first three, and cleaned the salt-corroded guides. Total: €110 including IVA, an hour and a half.
- Motorising an aluminium shutter in a tower in Benidorm (Rincón de Loix). 2.2 m living-room shutter, manual, for an elderly owner. 20 Nm tubular motor with remote control, wired to the existing socket in the box, limit switches set. Total: €280 including IVA, two hours.
How to avoid the "strap replacement from €19" adverts
Shutters have their own version of the locksmith scam. The advert says "strap replacement €19" and, when the operative arrives, it turns out to be €19 labour plus €25 call-out, plus the strap at €15 (it costs €3 in a ferretería, a hardware shop), plus an axle "inspection" at €30, and the invoice, if there is one, comes to €90-110 for what should cost €50. And very often an unnecessary axle replacement is sold because the customer cannot check.
- Ask for a total price by WhatsApp with a photo of the shutter and the box. We reply with a fixed figure that includes the part and the travel.
- If they say the axle needs replacing, ask them to show you with the box open: a bent axle or a split pulley is visible to the naked eye.
- A shutter strap costs €2-5 in a hardware shop; if it appears on the invoice at €15-20, ask why.
- Be wary of anyone who diagnoses from outside without opening the box: you cannot know what is wrong without looking inside.
- Ask for an invoice with IVA and a written guarantee: a badly fixed strap comes loose within a month and you need to be able to complain.
When it is worth fixing the shutter yourself
Replacing the strap on a shutter with a PVC box and a front cover is a 30-40 minute job with a €3 strap and a screwdriver, and we explain it step by step in how to replace a roller shutter strap, including the version with an internal box and without dismantling anything. The cord and winder is similar: read how to replace a roller shutter cord. And before calling about a shutter that will not go up, our guide to a roller shutter that will not go up helps you work out whether it is the strap, the stop or a slat sitting crooked.
Where it is not worth it: dropped heavy aluminium shutters (the axle has to come out with the shutter rolled up, and it is heavy), built-in boxes with a painted or nailed cover, axles and pulleys, any shutter over 2 m and, of course, motors. If yours has come out of the guide, look first at roller shutter dropped off track to see whether it is a simple case. For a general run-through of faults, there is how to fix a roller shutter. And if you get stuck halfway through, no problem: we finish what you started at the same price.

Frequently asked questions
Does the shutter repair price include IVA and the part?
Yes. The prices on this page include 21 % IVA and the standard part: strap, cord, winder, pulley, hangers or white or beige PVC slats. Only coloured or special aluminium slats, high-power motors and complete shutters are charged separately, and we tell you before we come.
Do you charge a call-out for a single shutter strap?
No. The €35-60 price for replacing the strap already includes travel in Valencia, Alicante, Torrevieja and Benidorm. We only charge a call-out (€25 in the city, €35 in the rest of the Costa Blanca) if we come out and you decide not to go ahead with the repair. If you have two or more shutters, the price per unit comes down.
Do you repair shutters at weekends or at night?
Saturdays and Sundays from 8am to 9pm with no surcharge. Not at night, because a shutter that will not come down is not an emergency that justifies a night surcharge; if you cannot close it, we tell you over the phone how to secure it temporarily and come first thing the next morning.
How do I pay for the repair?
When the job is done and we have tested the shutter with you, in cash, by card, Bizum or bank transfer, with an invoice on the spot. For rental flats, the owner can pay by Bizum or transfer while we are with the tenant, and the invoice goes in the owner's name.
How long does a shutter repair take?
Replacing the strap or the cord, 30-45 minutes. Refitting a dropped shutter or replacing slats, an hour to an hour and a half. Replacing the axle or motorising, two hours. If the part is special and has to be ordered, we make a first visit to measure and a second to fit, without charging the second call-out.
What guarantee comes with a shutter repair?
Six months in writing on the repair: if the strap comes loose, the shutter drops again or the motor stops responding because of a fitting fault, we come back at no cost. Motors also carry two years of manufacturer's warranty. The guarantee does not cover new damage from forcing a jammed shutter up or from building work.
Is it better to repair or replace the whole shutter?
Repair, almost always. A PVC shutter with three broken slats is fixed for €70-100; a new one costs €150-300 plus €90-160 to fit. Replacing it is only worthwhile when the slats are brittle from the sun along their whole height, when the axle and pulleys are corroded at the same time, or when you want to move from PVC to aluminium with a motor.
