What breaks on awnings in Dénia

Dénia's typical fault is rusted fittings. In Les Rotes and Les Marines, with the sea a few metres away and salt mist many mornings, the elbow pins, the steel cables and the bracket bolts rust within a few years. The awning squeaks, the arm catches and finally drops. We replace the arm (90-160 €) or just the cable and spring if the profile is sound, and swap the fixings for A4 stainless steel.

The second is the fabric on large villa awnings, 5 to 6 metres over a terrace or pergola. The afternoon sun coming in from the west of the Montgó burns the acrylic, and the autumn storms tear fabric that was left out. Made-to-measure awnings for villas, pergolas and balconies

In the villas of La Pedrera, El Montgó and Jesús Pobre the terrace is usually large and a folding-arm awning needs reinforced brackets and a motor. We check the wall (hollow block in many 1980s and 90s builds) and anchor with chemical resin when a plug will not grip. Over timber or aluminium pergolas we fit guided awnings or tensioned fabric rather than arms.

For pool gardens in Les Marines, the 3x3 shade sail (180-320 € fitted) is the most requested option: shade over the lawn with no supporting wall, using stainless steel posts and tensioners. On apartments by the port and in the centre we fit folding-arm or vertical balcony awnings, matching the colour the comunidad de vecinos (residents' association) specifies.

How to book the job from Dénia or from abroad

• Send us WhatsApp photos of the awning retracted and extended, the width and, if the house is shut up, who holds the key. Many Dénia owners are in Germany or the UK and we arrange it with the agency or a neighbour.
• We give you a fixed price in writing. We arrive in 30-60 minutes for emergencies between 8:00 and 21:00, or agree a day for installations and services.

When the awning is beyond repair

A 1990s villa awning in Les Rotes with both arms pitted, a rusted roller tube and brackets eaten away by salt is not repaired, it is replaced.
