The awning jobs we are asked for most in Elche

Call number one in Elche is the big terrace awning, 4 to 6 metres, in the blocks of Carrús, Sector V and El Toscar. They are folding-arm awnings from the 1990s and 2000s whose fabric has been burnt out by the afternoon sun and whose arms have lost their tension. In almost all of them we replace the fabric and springs on the same visit, without touching the brackets, and the awning tensions like new again.

The second is the villa in a rural partida, in El Altet, Torrellano or Perleta, with a porch and garden. There the customer wants shade over a wide area and the best answer is usually a 3x3 or larger shade sail anchored to posts and the facade (180-320 € fitted), or a motorised folding-arm awning for the porch. The dust from the fields calls for a tight-weave fabric that can be hosed down.

The third is the beach apartment in Arenales del Sol and La Marina, where the problem is the same as all along the coast: salt in the elbow of the arm, rusted fixings and an awning that retracts crooked. We replace the arm (90-160 €) with stainless steel fixings and apply marine grease to the pivot points.

Made-to-measure awnings for balconies, terraces and porches

For a 2.5 to 3.5 metre balcony on a block in El Raval or Altabix we fit a folding-arm awning, or a cassette awning if you want the fabric protected over winter. We measure wall to wall and check that the extended fabric does not hit the balustrade or the window of the neighbour above. In the big residential blocks of Carrús the fabric colour is usually set by the comunidad de vecinos (residents' association); ask before ordering.

In Los Palmerales and the new developments at Elche Parque Empresarial the terraces are wider and the awning often needs a motor because of the weight. We fit a tubular motor with remote and, if you want, a wind sensor that retracts the awning on its own when the gusts pick up. For west-facing windows we propose an exterior vertical awning, cheaper and more effective against the heat than a folding-arm one.

How we take the job and get it done

• Send us two WhatsApp photos (awning retracted and extended) and the rough width. For a new installation, a photo of the opening and the measurement between the walls.
• We give you a fixed price in writing. If you accept, we agree a time; in Elche town we can be there in 25-45 minutes when it is urgent, for example an awning that has come loose and is banging against the facade.
• We finish, test the awning with you, you pay by cash, card, Bizum or bank transfer and we hand over an invoice including IVA (VAT) and a written 6-month guarantee on labour.

When it is better to wait or change plan

If the awning is over 20 years old, the roller tube is bent and the brackets move, repairing stops making sense: each loose part costs almost as much as the whole. We tell you from the photo and, if you wish, take down and remove the old awning. For fitting a new one it does not matter where you buy it; we charge the labour you see in the table.

Another frequent case in the older blocks of Carrús is a bracket anchored to a hollow-brick parapet that no longer holds. There we do not hang a new awning without reinforcing the anchor, because fabric extended in wind acts as a sail and rips the bracket out.
