Where fly screens are most in demand in Elche, and why

Elche sits among palm groves, irrigation channels and open farmland, and you notice it in summer: in the rural partidas (Torrellano, La Marina, Los Palmerales, El Altet) and in any house with a garden, mosquitoes are about from April. Villa owners mostly ask for screens on the porch and living room doors, and there we fit pleated screens on a low track, which cope with openings of up to 3 metres and do not break when they are opened twenty times a day.

In the 1970s blocks of Carrús, El Pla and El Raval the standard window is an aluminium slider with a strap-operated persiana (roller shutter). A sliding fly screen drops into the spare outer track without a single drill hole and is the cheapest option. Where that track is already taken or bent, we fit a roller screen onto the frame instead.

In Altabix, Sector V and the renovated flats of the Centro you find tilt-and-turn uPVC windows. For those the vertical roller screen with a 40 mm cassette is the usual answer, and for living rooms with a wide balcony door, a side-rolling or pleated screen. In Arenales del Sol and La Marina, right on the beach, we always use stainless steel rollers and fixings because of the salt air.

How we do it in Elche

Send us a WhatsApp photo of each opening from the inside, with rough measurements. We tell you which type suits each window and give you a fixed price. If you accept, we come to measure precisely and have the screens made. Fitting takes place within 3-5 working days, 15-25 minutes per opening, with the track cleaned as part of the job.

We work Monday to Sunday, 8:00 to 21:00. You pay when the job is done (cash, card, Bizum or bank transfer), with an invoice including IVA (VAT) and a written 6-month guarantee on the fitting, on top of the manufacturer's warranty. If you ask us to measure and then do not place an order, the visit costs 35 €.

What sets the price in Elche

Type and size. A 60x120 sliding screen for a kitchen in Carrús sits at the bottom of the range; a 2.5 m pleated screen for the porch of a villa in the La Hoya partida sits at the top. A profile colour other than white or bronze adds 5-15 € per unit, and special meshes (pollen-proof, cat-proof reinforced, high-visibility) add 10-25 €.

Ordering several openings at once lowers the unit price from the fourth one onwards, which is why a complete two-bedroom flat comes to 320-480 €. Problems that come up when we measure

In many villas in the partidas the porch doors are old aluminium with no free outer track, or the porch floor is not level so the bottom track of a pleated screen will not sit flat. We solve it with a levelling profile or with a side-rolling screen, and we decide it with you during the measuring visit.

In Arenales del Sol we come across ten-year-old screens whose rollers have turned to rust and whose mesh has been cooked by the sun. If the frame is sound, we replace the mesh and rollers for 25-45 € rather than selling you a new screen.
