Awnings in Torrevieja: the three most common calls

The first is the folding-arm awning on an 1980s or 90s urbanisation bungalow (Lago Jardín, Torreta, San Luis) with fabric ruined by sun and rain. They are 3 to 4 metre awnings over the back patio, with arms that still work. We replace the fabric for 150-300 € with the fabric included and re-tension the springs on the same visit.

The second is the awning that does not work when the owner arrives in spring. Torrevieja has thousands of homes shut from October to May; the remote has flat batteries, the receiver has lost its programming or the arms have seized. We check and reprogram it; if the motor is dead, we fit a new one with remote for 250-420 €.

The third is the side awning on a terrace or patio that no longer rolls up. In the pool communities of Punta Prima and Rocío del Mar the side awnings between neighbours have a worn-out return spring. We replace the spring or the whole cassette and leave it taut; it is an hour's job.

Which awning to put on a bungalow patio or an apartment terrace

For the back patio of a bungalow in Los Balcones or La Siesta, with a wall on one side only, a 3 to 4 metre folding-arm awning is the usual choice; it anchors to the lintel and costs 120-220 € labour. If the patio has no usable wall, a 3x3 shade sail (180-320 € fitted) gives shade on posts and tensioners and stands up well to wind if it is tensioned properly.

For apartment terraces in Playa del Cura, Los Locos and La Mata, the comunidad de vecinos (residents' association) usually sets the colour and model. We fit a folding-arm or vertical awning depending on the opening and the ceiling height. To screen off the neighbour's terrace, the roll-up side awning is the most requested: it takes up little room when retracted and is fitted in an hour.

How we arrange it with owners and agencies

• Send us WhatsApp photos of the awning, the width and who holds the key (agency, neighbour, administrador). We write in English, Spanish and Russian.
• We give you a fixed price in writing. For emergencies between 8:00 and 21:00 we arrive in 20-40 minutes; for installations and services we agree a day with whoever opens the property.
• When we finish we send photos of the awning tested and an invoice including IVA (VAT). You pay by cash, card, Bizum or bank transfer from your home country. Written 6-month guarantee on labour.

When repair is not worth it, and what we do not do

A 1990 bungalow awning with both arms rusted, a bent roller tube and fabric on its third replacement costs more to repair piece by piece than to replace. We tell you from the photo and, if you wish, take down the old one and fit the new one you buy. We do not sell awnings, we fit them, so the labour price is the same wherever you buy.
