Why Torrevieja blocks: limescale, closed-up homes and 1980s urbanisations
The 1980s and 1990s bungalow urbanisations (Torreta, Aguas Nuevas, San Luis, El Chaparral, La Siesta) were built with pipes that have little fall and small chambers in shared patios. With Torrevieja's hard water, limescale coats the inside and shrinks the diameter; add kitchen grease and the sink ends up closed. The patio chambers also collect leaves, soil and hedge roots.
The other cause is the calendar. A home closed from October to May opens with dry traps, a floor trap crusted with hardened soap and sometimes a toilet blocked by what was left inside. In the flats of Playa del Cura, Los Locos and La Mata add summer sand in the shower and terrace drains, and in ground-floor flats, everything that comes down from the whole block.

When the blockage is in the community's main drain
In urbanisations with a pool, several bungalows drain into a shared main run managed by the comunidad de vecinos (residents' association). If your chamber is full and the water does not move after the auger, or if the neighbours have the same problem, the blockage is downstream. We check with the camera, give you the video for the administrator and do not charge for the unblocking; that job is done by a partner tanker company we work with.
If the blockage is yours and the trap or an accessible run is also broken, we replace it on the same visit as your plumber in Torrevieja. If the patio has to be dug up to replace buried pipe, that is building work and we pass you to a trusted builder who quotes separately.
