Why drains block so often in Valencia
In the 1960s to 1980s blocks of Patraix, Jesús, Benimaclet or La Saïdia the kitchen waste pipe has been taking frying oil for forty years. The grease cools in the pipe, sticks to the walls and every year the opening gets narrower; by the time the sink starts to drain slowly, the horizontal run to the stack is already half closed. With the electric auger we recover the full diameter, rather than just punching a hole through the middle of the plug.
In older bathrooms with a floor trap, hair and soap build up in the trap, and in basins with a bottle trap Valencia's hard water forms a limescale crust that eventually closes the pipe. When the problem is not in your flat
If water comes up the shower drain when the neighbour upstairs empties the washing machine, the blockage is in the communal stack, not in your pipework. We check with the camera and tell you straight: that job is paid by the comunidad de vecinos (residents' association) and done by a tanker company we work with as a partner. We do not charge you for an unblocking that would solve nothing.

Can I try to unblock the sink before calling?
Yes, if the water still drains a little. Very hot water with a squirt of washing-up liquid followed by a plunger will shift many recent grease plugs. The steps are in the guide to unblocking a kitchen sink. If nothing drains or it blocks again within a week, the plug is further in and needs the auger.
Do you use chemicals?
No. Caustic soda and acid drain cleaners damage plastic traps and the joints of Valencia's old stacks, and they stop us working safely if the trap then has to be opened. We use the electric auger, a pressure pump and hot water.
How long do you take to reach Valencia on a Sunday?
The same as on a weekday, 25-45 minutes, because we work Monday to Sunday from 8am to 9pm with no surcharge. Only night call-outs or official bank holidays carry the emergency rate of 130-220 €.
Does the unblocking come with a guarantee?
Yes, 6 months in writing. If the same drain closes again in that time for the same cause, we come back at no cost. The guarantee does not cover new blockages from wet wipes or oil put down afterwards, or blockages in the communal stack, which do not depend on your pipework.
What if the blockage is in the building's stack?
