What we do most with shower screens in Valencia bathrooms
The most frequent job is fitting the screen the customer has already bought. In the renovated flats of Ruzafa, El Carmen and Extramurs the bathroom usually has a slimline resin tray and moisture-resistant plasterboard walls, and the two-door front sliding screen is the best seller. We plumb it, fix the profiles with the right plasterboard anchors, adjust the doors and seal on the outside. Between 90 and 140 €.
The second is repairing the sliding screen that no longer slides. In the blocks of Patraix, Benicalap or Quatre Carreres Valencia's very hard water leaves limescale in the track and the rollers seize and snap. The third is resealing. Ten-year-old silicone goes black with mould and lets water through to the floor, and the neighbour downstairs rings. We cut out the old silicone, clean with alcohol, replace the water seals if they are stiff and reseal with anti-mould sanitary silicone. That is 40-70 € and 24 hours without using the shower.

What changes the price of fitting a shower screen in Valencia
The type: a front screen with two sliding doors is quicker than a corner screen with two fixed panels and two doors, and much quicker than a three-panel folding bath screen. The wall: the porcelain tiles of recent renovations need a diamond drill bit and more time than 1970s ceramic tiles. And the tray: if it is out of level, it has to be packed and sealed with more care.
Removing and taking away the old screen is 50-65 € extra, with the silicone scraped off and the wall ready for the new one. When the screen is not the only problem
Often, when removing an old screen in a 1970s block in Jesús or L'Olivereta, the joint between the tray and the tiles turns out to be open, with damp plaster underneath. You cannot seal over it: it has to dry, sometimes the tiles need regrouting, and then we fit. For that finishing job we have the small building works team in Valencia, part of the same crew.
If the shower also drains slowly, that is the moment to clean the trap or the waste before fitting the new screen, because afterwards it is harder to reach. The drain unblocking in Valencia team does it on the same visit. And if the tap drips, the plumber.

How much does it cost to fit a shower screen in Valencia?

Can you fit it today?
If you already have the screen at home, usually yes: we arrive in 25-45 minutes between 8am and 9pm and the fitting takes 1.5-2 hours. The only thing we ask is that the shower is not used for 24 hours afterwards, so the silicone cures. If an old one has to come out, allow an extra hour.
The door on my sliding screen has dropped. Does the whole screen need replacing?
Hardly ever. The usual thing in Valencia is that the rollers have snapped because of limescale or the adjustment screw has worked loose. We replace the roller set with a compatible one (we carry the most common formats) and adjust the height. That is 45-80 €. We only recommend replacing the screen if the profile is broken or the glass is damaged.
What silicone do you use and how long does it last?
Neutral sanitary silicone with fungicide, in white or clear. Applied properly on a clean, dry surface it lasts 5-8 years without going black. To make it last, we seal on the outside of the screen, never the inside, so water runs back into the tray. A full reseal costs 40-70 € and includes removing the old silicone and the seals if they are stiff.
Is the fitting guaranteed?
Yes, 6 months in writing on the fitting and the seal, shown on the invoice with IVA. The screen itself carries its manufacturer's or shop's warranty. If in that time there is a leak at the joint or a door goes out of adjustment because of our fitting, we come back at no cost. We hold public liability insurance.
