Which fly screen suits each part of Alicante
In the flats of Playa de San Juan, Albufereta and Cabo de las Huertas almost every window is an aluminium slider with a roller shutter. There the sliding fly screen sits in the outer track of the frame and is the cheapest option and the one that best stands up to the easterly wind. The enemy is salt air: steel rollers rust and the screen stops sliding. We fit nylon rollers with a stainless steel axle, which do not seize.
In the 1970s flats of the Centro, Carolinas, Benalúa and San Blas there are casement and tilt-and-turn windows, many already replaced with uPVC. For those the vertical roller screen is the answer: it retracts into a 40 mm cassette above the frame and does not get in the way when you open the window. Where the uPVC cannot be drilled, we fix with structural tape and clips, which also hold.
In the villas of Vistahermosa, Cabo de las Huertas and Tómbola the big opening is the terrace or porch door. There the pleated screen, which folds like a concertina on a 20 mm floor track, lets you walk through without a step and copes with openings up to 3 metres. If you have a cat, we fit reinforced PVC mesh on any of the three types.

How we work in Alicante
Send us a photo of the window from inside on WhatsApp with rough measurements, and we tell you which type fits and the fixed price. If you accept, we come to measure precisely (the track opening, not the glass) and make the screen. Fitting within 3-5 working days; in high season from May to July it can stretch to 7.
On fitting day we take 15-25 minutes per opening. Payment on completion by card, Bizum, cash or bank transfer, invoice with IVA (VAT) and 6 months' written guarantee on the fitting, plus the manufacturer's on profiles and mesh. If you ask for a measuring visit and do not place the order, we charge 25 € in Alicante city.
What changes the price of a fly screen in Alicante
The type (sliding, roller, pleated) comes first, then the size: a sliding screen for a 60x120 cm kitchen window is at the lower end; one for a 100x230 cm balcony door at the upper end. The profile colour (white, bronze, RAL powder-coated to match the joinery) adds 5-15 € per unit. Standard fibreglass mesh is grey; anti-pollen, high-visibility and cat-proof reinforced mesh cost 10-25 € more per opening.

When the window is not what it seems
In some 1980s flats in Albufereta and Playa de San Juan the outer track of the aluminium frame is bent or has been used for the roller shutter, and a sliding screen has nowhere to run. In that case we switch to a roller screen on the frame or a sliding screen with an added guide, and we tell you at the measuring stage, not on fitting day.
Another common situation: the old fly screen does not slide because of the rollers, but the roller shutter around it does not go up properly either. How long from measuring to fitting?
Between 3 and 5 working days for most of the year. From May to July, when the whole of Alicante asks for fly screens at once, it can go up to 7. Repairs (mesh, rollers) we do the same day or the next because we carry the material in the van.
My sliding fly screen will not slide. Do you replace it or repair it?
It can be repaired in 90 % of cases. The usual thing in Playa de San Juan is that the rollers have rusted in the salt air: we replace them with nylon rollers on a stainless steel axle and clean the track. That is 25-45 € including parts. We only recommend a new one if the frame is bent or the mesh is torn in several places.
Can you fit fly screens on a uPVC window without drilling?
Yes. For uPVC we use roller screens fixed with structural adhesive tape and clips, or sliding screens that sit in the existing track without screws. They stand up to the coastal wind if the surface is clean and dry when fitted. If the window is in a rental, we note it on the quote so you can remove them without leaving a mark.
Are the fly screens guaranteed?
Yes. Six months in writing on the fitting, on the invoice with IVA, plus the manufacturer's warranty on profiles, mesh and mechanisms. If a roller screen stops retracting or a sliding screen comes off its track in that time because of a fitting fault, we come back at no cost. Mesh torn by a knock or a pet is replaced for 25-45 €.
