What we fix most in Valencia's apartment buildings
Most of our calls come from 1960s-80s buildings in Patraix, Jesús, L'Olivereta and La Saïdia: wooden doors with a mortice lock and spring latch that slam shut in the draught from the light well. They are buildings without a porter, so nobody can let you into the entrance or has a spare. We open those with picks or a shim, without touching the lock, in 10-20 minutes.
In the refurbished flats of Ruzafa, El Carmen and Extramurs the picture changes: reinforced doors with a euro-profile cylinder standing proud of the escutcheon. It is the most common security flaw we see in Valencia, because a cylinder protruding more than 3 mm can be snapped or bumped open in seconds. We replace it with a flush anti-bump cylinder and a security escutcheon.
In Benimaclet and Algirós, with so many shared flats, the typical fault is a key snapped inside the cylinder: copies of copies that end up breaking. In El Cabanyal and Poblats Marítims we find old rim locks on low-rise houses, seized by the sea damp, which can sometimes be saved and sometimes have to be replaced.

The 29 € locksmith in Valencia: why to be wary
In Google adverts and on stickers in Valencia's entrance halls you will see openings from 19 or 29 €. No locksmith can drive to Campanar, open a door and invoice with IVA (VAT) for that money. The scheme is always the same: the advertised price does not include the call-out, the labour or the lock they drill without need, and the final bill on the landing comes to 300-500 €.
We work the other way round. You send us a photo of the lock by WhatsApp, we give you a fixed price and an arrival time, and if on opening we see the door needs something more, we stop and tell you before carrying on. You pay when we finish, by cash, card, Bizum or bank transfer, with an invoice. And we never drill a cylinder that can be opened without breaking it.
